Post Show Depression

Every single time I finish a show I really enjoyed, I get very very sad and feel like it's the end of the world. From TV shows like Gravity Falls, to Korean Dramas like Descendants of the Sun and W - Two worlds, to books even, Deadly little secrets series, and Anime like Romeo x Juliet or GoSick. The show that touched my heart the most is probably InuYasha. Even though there are it's down sides and upsides, I still love it as it is. I've watched the whole series 4 times now in the span of 4 years, and I get the feels every time. My friends and sister always get mad at me asking why I waste my time watching the same anime over and over when you can watch other anime? The truth is, InuYasha is a significant part of my childhood I refuse to let go of, and is what I have left of it. When I was little my sisters and I would stay up late until 9 (it was late for us) to watch InuYasha on teletoon. Watching InuYasha now is like reliving my childhood. I would binge watch a few episodes every now and then, every time I get sad for some reason.. it was my escape (Another escape is creating vides & editing). . Every time I finish the whole anime, I feel lost.. Like most other shows I've watched but InuYasha is different. It's like kind of living in the adventure I wish I could live in, but know I will never live in that adventure in real life.

I did tons of research on everything about InuYasha (because I'm a crazy fan lol). I wish I'd be able to get the chance to read the manga since they probably cut a whole bunch of parts out in the final acts since they rushed it. I'm okay with the ending of the anime, I just wish they would come out with InuYasha and Sesshomaru's father's story since he's the "Great Dog Demon" and all.. And he probably went through a lot. I also want to know the story about their father and mothers. Also in the end of InuYasha, Rin stayed with Kaede to learn how it's like to live with humans, so she could choose to be with Sesshomaru or with humans, I want to see her choice. And if it's with Sesshomaru, I want to know their story and adventure. I don't want to read fan fictions, I want to know it from Rumiko Takahashi herself!

InuYasha is obviously a huge part of my life, and I'd like to thank Rumiko Takahashi, and everyone who took place in the making for everything! And it's something that I'll watch over and over through my life time, and maybe show my kids one day :)

True Beauty

Everyone has or is struggling with their own self image. Personally, I have at times throughout the 16 years of my life. I used to never really have an issue with the way I looked in elementary school. I was only teased by some girls about how I had a flat chest, but that was it. I just told my sister about it and I never really cared because I was like 10 at the time. High school rolled in, and one of my friends said I didn't have eyebrows. I kinda laughed it off and never really thought of it like that. I was always okay with how I looked. I used to never wear make-up or care about the way I dressed. My go to outfit was always a hoodie and jeans. In the morning I used to get up, brush my teeth, shower, get dressed and get to school. I never noticed how I "didn't have eyebrows" until that comment, since then I'd always get teased about it, and I would joke around as well even tho I would low-key feel sad for myself. I started learning how to fill in my eyebrows in 9th grade, but wouldn't wear it at school because I thought I looked weird. At the end of 9th grade I got my mom to pluck my eyebrows, it was painful, but it was something I thought I needed to do. My brows were more visible after because there was a shape vs before, they were sparse and weren't visible.

Grade 9 - After I got them plucked
Grade 8 - Before I plucked my eyebrows
Aside from my "eyebrow issues", I was struggling with the clothes I wore in 9th grade. I would wear the same old purple sweater all the time with jeans. At first it's what I used to like to wear but now I wanted to wear different clothes. I kept wearing the same thing because I would get really anxious if I wore something different, because I would think people would judge me. But people actually judged me for wearing the same sweater all the time. I ended up pushing myself to wear what I wanted, and that anxiety went away... slowly. Back to my eyebrows struggle, the middle of 10th grade, I got annoyed because every time I would take a picture of myself, or someone would take a picture of me, I didn't think I solved my "eyebrows problem" I didn't think my eyebrows were visible enough.  My friends would tell me to fill in my eyebrows. So I would fill them in lightly every now and then. I started wearing it more often, and one of my friends that always tease me about my eyebrows asked why I wear make up, and how it's expensive and that I shouldn't wear it, I don't really remember what I said back, but all I know is that I still continued to wear make up. When 11th grade rolled in, and I basically fill them in every single day now. I'd also wear eyeliner or mascara. Days where I'd stay at home, and I wouldn't wear any makeup, or when I take off my makeup at night, I'd look at the mirror and think how ugly I look. How different I look. How bare and naked my face looks. How if anyone I knew walked in on me without makeup, I'd feel embarrassed. I'd avoid looking in the mirror all day because of how unpleasant I feel looking at myself. My sister even said I looked really different since she's used to seeing me with filled in eyebrows and lined eyes. I replied, I know I look really ugly, like I mean, I don't even wanna look at myself. I said that with the most serious voice. And she replied, Why? Don't think that. After that I realized what I've become. I ended up hating how my real face looks like. At first it was to please others, but in the end it's also to please myself. So I'd blend in with everyone. I would look at old pictures and think ugly, ugly, ugly. I would look at pictures from the beach last summer and think ugly, ugly, ugly, I'm never going swimming without waterproof eyebrow makeup. I'd look at pictures of other girls my age or younger and ask myself why do they look so good, why do I look like a 12 year old, but 12 year olds look my age?

People around me don't make me feel good about myself sometimes. They would scroll through Instagram and ask everyone to rate this person. I'd usually go bms or 10 because I don't even like rating first of all. Then they would list all their flaws. And they would list those flaws and think about my flaws. I think everyone is beautiful, and seeing these 50 times more beautiful people get their beauty looked down on, I look at myself, and think how 50 times more uglier I must be. They would say, her eyes are too small, her lips are too thin, she doesn't have boobs, or a butt, she looks like a pole. I would look at myself and think, my eyes are smaller than hers, my lips are pretty thin, I look like a damn pole. Insecurities invade my thoughts and I would give an obvious sad look, and they'd notice and say no you're pretty Angela, don't worry, you have a butt. And all I could think is if I never met these people, and they come across a picture of me somehow, all the flaws they would point out. I honestly make fun of my friends to their face and they would do the same back, but I wouldn't say it behind their back. It's so frustrating comparing yourself to everyone else everyday and thinking how not as good looking as you are to everyone else.

Growing up Filipino, their ideal beauty is someone with fare white skin, and I tan easily. So my parents would tell me to sit in the shade for recess, or not to play outside during the summer because my skin gets really dark. From everything that has happened in the world, I never really care about anyones skin colour, so why should I care for mine. I decided I shouldn't care about the colour of my skin, and embrace my tanned skin. I posted my status All skin colours are beautiful. And a friend commented and yet you want to be white. Yes I wanted to have fare white skin just to fit in with this Filipino society's expectations, but I just want to embrace being tan, Filipinos are naturally tanned too, so I'm a natural Filipino and I'm proud to be one.

Beauty isn't what society's expectations of how an ideal woman/man should look like, beauty is being good towards other people, and being good to yourself. I just wish we lived in a world without judgement. Only God can judge us. :(

A year ago I never knew where or what I am today... I wonder what or where I will be a year from today.

A year ago I never knew I'd be having anxiety every morning during the car ride to school. A year ago I never knew I'd fail my History class. A year ago I never knew my parents would be splitting up. A year ago I never knew I'd never really known a person I thought I knew. A year ago I never knew I was never ready for a real relationship. A year ago I never knew what my roots really looked like. A year ago I never knew I'd be moving away from somewhere I was living in for literally my whole life. A year ago I never knew I'd move to a new school. A year ago I never knew I'd feel true loneliness. A year ago I never knew I'd be at my lowest point so far in my life. A year ago I never knew I'd have to shut out so many people to keep something low-key. A year ago I never knew I'd cry my eye balls out in Art class and in the basement washroom. A year ago I never knew I'd feel a rush sadness every single day.

A year ago I never knew I'd finally get to know the people I missed during the last 15 years of my life. A year ago I never knew I'd know what my roots really looked like. A year ago I never knew I'd ever get straight As on a report card again after elementary school. A year ago I never knew I'd get to be friends with someone very inspiring. A year ago I never knew I'd forgive and forget. A year ago I never knew things really do get better over time. A year ago I never knew I'd learn that true friends really do stick with you no matter what. A year ago I never knew I'd make friends on my own. A year ago I never knew I'd be consistent with my YouTube videos. A year ago I never knew I'd have my own room this early in my life. A year ago I never knew I'd learn to work hard and put in effort to get good things in return. A year ago I never knew I'd be binge watching Korean Dramas during my winter break instead of trying to get work done. A year ago I never knew I'd have the highest grade in my bio class. A year ago I never knew I'd learn so much things in a couple of months and be fascinated by all the knowledge I now have. A year ago I never knew I'd learn how to really paint. A year ago I'd never knew I'd learn how to play the ukulele so easily. A year ago I never knew I'd be closer to my cousins which I once never really knew.

A year ago.. I never knew... I'd be writing this blog post right now... I never knew this blog that once was an assignment for my communications class would be my diary that I'd share with the internet. A year ago... I never knew how much more positive things that has happened this year than negative things.

It's crazy how I thought 2016 was a really bad year, but reflecting there actually was so much more positive things than negative. Bad things happen for a reason. It's okay to be sad because we learn from it afterwards. It's a part of life. There's no such thing as a person that is happy 24/7. Thank you 2016, I learned so much. Looking forward for another year of experiences to learn form.

One Race. The Human Race.

Hello!!! It's been a while since I posted anything (happy new year btw 2017 woo)... but lately I've been coming across articles about someone being racist to someone else, and every time I come across these kinds of articles, my blood stirs. There are 2 specific events that happened that stood out to me most because I felt a connection.

The first one was a Filipino man being insulted by his next door neighbour. Instead of the usual insults about ones physical image, the woman insulted his culture.
Saying words such as:
"Go back to where you came from!" "From some piece of sh*t Manila a*s f*cking ghetto living under a f*cking tarp piece of sh*t land" "You're too busy in there populating the world with more of your trashy people, so go in there and make some more mother f*cking babies" "You guys can blow up more fireworks like you've never seen fire before cause you're so f*cking stupid you're like orange savages. Like you've never seen anything before. You're just like one generation out of the jungle" "F*cking coming to America sucking up our f*cking resources and this and that"
By the way, I am full Filipino that grew up in Toronto, Canada, and seeing what this lady says makes me super angry.
This argument started from cleaning up leaves and the lady went out of her house with her broom and went off. Throughout the years living next to each other, they never got along. Dexter, the victim, admits he's not the perfect neighbour but believes it wasn't right to attack his whole culture and offend the Filipino community over a little thing. She later apologized to the Filipino community, and said that she wasn't trying to direct it to any race but towards her neighbour. She admits that what she said wasn't right and she wasn't raised that way.

I agree with Dexter. Just because Dexter messed up and didn't clean his yard the way his neighbour wanted, it doesn't mean she has to attack a whole body of people over a small thing. I understand when people say things on accident when they're very mad, but it kinda went too far... we're not orange LOL. But because she apologized hopefully she truly meant it and will learn from this for the future, and hopefully other people will learn from this too.

The next event I found in a video on Facebook which took place in a subway car in Toronto. A middle aged lady went up to a teenage girl and said "Go back to your country". The person, Anthony Tran, started recording the scene after he heard the lady say those words. A while later she goes up to her again and says, "Go back to your country. Look like that you go to your country" right after Anthony goes in and defends the teenager. He says "You don't have the right to tell people to go back to their country" The woman shoots back and yells "I don't care! I have the right to tell you!" Anthony replies "Oh really? To go back to my country? I'm from Toronto dumba*s." Right after she goes back to the girl and asks "Who gave you that?" (referring to the cellphone she's holding). Anthony defends the girl once again and tells the lady to mind her own business. But she yells back "I don't want her to have it". Then they shoot at each other back and forth with words, and even some other people got involved and told Anthony to leave it alone, but he refused to leave a bully to continue bullying.

Because this happened in Toronto, the city I grew up in, this kinda hit me. I've never seen anything like this happen in real life. This is Toronto for gosh sakes, one of the most multicultural cities in the worlds!! I don't understand how she has the nerve to tell that girl to go back to her country. Everyone has the same amount of rights to live in Canada. I don't get what makes that lady think she's higher than everyone else and that it's okay to say those words. Canada welcomes all. And good job to Anthony for standing up for her even tho other people in the subway car told him to leave it alone. The part in all of this that confused me most was when the lady asked the teen who gave her the phone, and that she didn't want her, the teenager, to have it. Maybe she was born and raised in Toronto and was jealous that someone from a different country had more gadgets than she did. And if you watch closely in the video at 0:18, the lady did a weird thing with her hands. Maybe there was something wrong with her, or she could be straight up racist. I guess we'll never know...

People who say "go back to your country" make me sick. These people that come from other countries come for a reason. For a life that is better than what they had. Everyone deserves a good life, it isn't only reserved for people who were born into it. Why can't everyone just get along, and see each other as equals and help each other out? Why are people so greedy, selfish and think they're better then everyone? We all came into this world the same way, and we're all leaving the same way... all of our objects don't determine what happens to us in the end, the way we treat others and the way we truly are in the inside does. The difference in skin colour doesn't determine how much better one is to another. WE'RE ALL THE SAME. GROW UP AND GET OVER IT.
